07/08/13 w/ Leo Holiday (Canyons)

Canyons’ Leo Holiday lays down an interesting challenge with a remedying sequence of morning music, West Coast singer-songwriters, piano ballads and saccharine underground. Music For Wide Open Spaces. An appreciation for the art of song, encouraging me to pull out some long overlooked album cuts in the collection and marvel in the obvious. This finally delivers on the promise of a mix after his wingman Ryan Groove’s contribution back in 2011.

Canyons are currently riding a creative purple patch having just released an EP of bumpin warehouse rhythm trax under the moniker Pink Gin (launching at Spicy Cellar this Friday) and performing 100 Million Nights, their A/V collaboration with Australian visual artist Daniel Boyd featuring a live soundtrack of psyche-electronic fusion, at art institutions across the country. More exciting ideas are seeping through the door of their beach side studio so get ready.
