09/09/12 w/ The Very Polish Cut-Outs

It’s incredibly hard to find inspiration in the edit world these days, saturated by unnecessary releases and lame efforts. The Very Polish Cut-Outs offer something contradictory to this, having made a solid name for themselves by exposing good Polish music to the world through deconstructing and reconstructing their nation’s 70s/80s nuggets. A few years back the collective issued a stellar EP on the short-lived Bumrocks label – it didn’t leave my DJ bag for 9 months and I still find myself coming back to it today.

Before we explore the broader non-Polish side of Kacper Kapsa and Zambon’s musical palette, we warm things up with some exciting new and unreleased tracks, focusing on Melbourne’s thriving dance community (Michael Ozone, Bell Towers, Tornado Wallace, Roland Tings) and some Crue-L cuts in preparation for this week’s Bamboo Musik (details below)!

Bamboo Musik returns after a 4 month hiatus with very special import DJ Kenji Takimi (Crue-L Grand Orchestra, Luger E-Go, Being Borings). Takimi is a true pioneer of the leftfield/alt-disco scene, and his label Crue-L Records has been at the forefront of Japanese alternative music since its inception 19 years ago. An artists’ artist, his respected productions have been lovingly remixed by the likes of DJ Harvey, Theo Parrish, Dr Dunks, Idjut Boys, Prins Thomas, Recloose and Joe Claussell, while Cut Copy, Dimitri From Paris and Sebastian Tellier have commissioned him for reworks. His cutting edge taste and eclectic, romantic and spacey style will be right at home at Bamboo! Come set yourself free. Limited presales available here for guaranteed entry!
