24/04/11 w/ Andy Blake

Andy Blake is one prolific dude. Producer, DJ, label head, club night promoter. Between 2007-2009, his Dissident label pumped out 60+ one sided 12″s of superior quality before folding to make way for two new imprints – Cave Paintings, an outlet for his own freestyle analogue house and techno experiments, and World Unknown, an impending label aligned with his Brixton club night of the same name where he and cohort Joe Hart spin “throbbing electronic music for dancing” and “heavy balearic”. Amongst this hectic lifestyle he also manages to circulate mixes on a more than regular basis, each one a focused exploration of an individual theme whether it be a techno/house workout or a deep psych mix to lose your mind to. Tonight Andy delves into the NYC disco section of his expansive record collection. If you’re salivating for more then we recommend you check out his mixes at Test Pressing, Fabric and the World Unknown archive, as well as his Seven Is Great Than Twelve blog which is dedicated to the humble 45.
