During last week's whirlwind visit to Melbourne, Andrew Weatherall was kind enough to swing by the 3RRR studios to record this slo mo set of new releases. Weatherall has a phenomenal history that traces back to the Boys Own collective that birthed a cult fanzine, record label, party unit and production team during the peak of acid house in the UK. Amongst all the madness he befriended Primal Scream and became one of the catalysts in their exciting shift into the dance realm, producing Screamadelica with Terry Farley and turning it into the most essential drug soundtrack of the 90s. After parting ways with Boys Own, he went on to form Sabres of Paradise and Two Lone Swordsman, before launching his current electronic imprint Rotters Golf Club. His overwhelming list of remix credits continues to grow with 2011 seeing him rework Soft Rocks and create a diptych of Cut Copy's Sun God mantra. With this colourful past and Weatherall's golden sense of humour, I really wish we had time to squeeze in an interview. He was more than talkative off air, discussing everything from BBC 6 Music's rigorous censorship to selling dexys to the Cocteau Twins.
